Silver Mountain Resort, Kellogg, ID - Review

The Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg, Idaho is a family oriented vacation destination whether you visit in winter or summer. In winter, when we visited, we enjoyed taking the Gondola ride to the top of the mountain to do some tubing. The Gondola is a 3.1 mile ride and one of the longest Gondola's in the world, right there in little ole Kellogg, Idaho. In winter the Gondola runs daily and a little more limited in summer. In summer visitors can ride the Gondola up to the summit to enjoy the Silver Mountain Bike Park.

There is plenty of skiing to do up on Silver Mountain and runs for all skill levels. Being that the Gondola is located right next to the resort makes it very convenient for people staying there.

My kids really enjoyed the indoor waterpark, Silver Rapids. We spent most of our days in the waterpark riding the slides, playing in the lazy river, having some food, etc. You enter into the gift area and they have suits and other items for sale at your convenience. The hotel restaurant is mediocre and I would suggest you travel into town for some breakfast or lunch. We also rode over to Coeur d'Alene to visit the North Pole and see the parade of lights on CDA Cruises, but I have covered that in another review.

The hotel is very nicely appointed with a full kitchen, entry mud room and washer/dryer. Each room is very updated (built in 2004-2006) and clean and comfy. We had plenty of room for our three kids and there was ample parking. Also, each unit has at least two hot tubs either on the ground floor or roof. Check out our video review:

Overall: a very nice place to visit with family, only one restaurant is on the premises to serve you but there is a coffee shop which has small bites. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we recommend this resort for families as the waterpark in winter is very enjoyable.

Pros: waterpark and Gondola on premises, ample parking, clean and updated rooms. Price is very good for what you get (about $200 per night).

Cons: only one restaurant that serves mediocre food, not much to do if you don't enjoy the waterpark. Not recommended for couples.
