JBL Flip 1 and 2 Bluetooth Speakers Review

JBL Flip

I purchased the original Flip approximately 4 years ago and have used it nearly daily during that time. It holds a charge very well, has great sound quality but does not have a lengthy connectivity path (if you get more than 10 feet away with the device you are using for music, i.e., phone, you lose connectivity).

I found the Flip 2 while shopping at a big box store a couple of years ago and saw it for under $50 so I hopped on it. The carrying/storage case is a bit more durable and the menu on top of the speaker is a little different but it works, in my opinion, just as well as the original Flip. It too has difficulty keeping a connection if your device is more than 10 feet away.

Overall: once you get used to the bluetooth pairing, these work very well. Easy volume up and down menu, great battery life. I use these daily when I shower (of course I put them on the counter as they ARE NOT WATERPROOF). If you shop around you can find one for under $50.

Pros: convenient wireless setup, great audio, good battery life.

Cons: bluetooth loses sync if you are more than 10 feet away.
