Legoland Review

LegoLand California

We visited LegoLand California recently. Our family of five attended the plastic block based amusement park in Southern California (Carlsbad). We arrived right when the gates opened and were allowed in but as the park didn't officially open there were sections roped off (we have experienced the same at Disneyland and other amusement parks). While we waited they did have a section open where little kids and big ones alike were able to put together their own creations with the humongous lego pieces available.

Once inside there are numerous rides, food and fun. The elaborate display of cities, Star Wars ships and death star were fascinating. Much like other amusement parks, there is a lot of walking so be prepared for that as well as pricey food. Click Here for a map of LegoLand. Prices range from $84 for younger kids to $90 for those over 13. LegoLand also has a waterpark (which we did not attend on our particular trip) if you want to stay for more than one day. Of course, the park also has the adjoining LegoLand Hotel for accommodations.

Overall: LegoLand is no Disneyland so don't get your hopes up for a ride on Space Mountain but it is fun enough for a one day visit with the kids. Lots to do with decent rides and an adjoining waterpark on site.

Pros: easy-going atmosphere, not too crowded, unique displays (Paris, Las Vegas, Star Wars Death Star, etc.).

Cons: not an enormous amount to do after a few hours there.
