Beatsonic Navigation/DVD Bypass Installation and Review
Recently I installed a Beatsonic NDS6223EP Navigation/DVD bypass in my personal vehicle. I have summarized what I think about it and have included a detailed installation video you can view on our - YouTube channel.
Installation was fairly easy as the people over a Beatsonic included detailed instructions. For our vehicle, we did not require any special tools other than a 10mm socket wrench (with extension) and screwdriver. As our vehicle is a late model Lexus, the head unit and plastic pieces came apart without issue, however, your installation may vary.
The Beatsonic unit, once installed, enables DVD playback while the vehicle is in motion (for your passengers only of course - DON'T DRIVE AND WATCH VIDEOS). Further, it allows for entry of addresses and points of interest while driving by toggling up-down up-down on the volume via the steering wheel controls. The default time to allow for entry (again by a passenger) of an address is 3 minutes and then you are locked back out unless your vehicle comes to a stop. You must toggle the volume up-down up-down after you enter your destination to make the onscreen cursor move once again. The benefit of this is so you can enter a destination while driving instead of having to come to a complete stop.
Bottomline: Beatsonic unit works nicely and is very easy to install. Depending upon your need to enter addresses or have children/passengers watch DVDs while the vehicle is in motion will determine the necessity of this particular application. If you want to be able to do those things, this works seamlessly with your existing navigation and is hidden (once installed) behind your head unit.
Pros: enables DVD playback while vehicle is in motion for passengers to view and the sound is already integrated into the vehicle's speaker system, allows for entry of addresses and points of interest while the vehicle is in motion by toggling the volume up-down up-down.
Cons: possible distraction for drivers.
